Sommerset Paving was established in 2007 and has been steadily growing over the past 10 years.
Louise Pernicano, Sommerset Paving President, is a recent graduate of the 2017 cohort of the USDOT’s Bonding Education Program in Detroit, MI. As a result of participating in the program, Sommerset Paving was able to increase their bonding by $2,300,000.
“Attending the BEP expanded my knowledge of the bonding process, state and federal bidding processes, and increased networking opportunities. In order to compete and win projects it is important to attend as many training events as possible. Attending the BEP prompted me to send an employee of Sommerset to a contact she has at Cadillac Asphalt to look at how to begin to bid the DBE portion of projects. In that meeting we were given the opportunity to complete our first retail paving job for Cadillac. It went fantastic and all parties were pleased. We hope this is the beginning of a long relationship in retail paving with Cadillac Asphalt.”
